The Land Bank of the Philippines in partnership with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), launched on March 19, 2013 the Kiddie Katapat Savings Program (KKISs), at the Philippine National School (PNS) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The launch was spearheaded by the Landbank Overseas Remittance Officers (OROs) for Abu Dhabi – Mr. Gerald T. Heriales and Mr. Vladimir U. Columbano, and was attended by selected students, teachers and faculty members of the PNS, headed by Dr. Ofelia F. Padilla.
The Kiddie Katapat Savings (KKISs) Program, is a joint project of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas and Land Bank of the Philippines, in response to the Financial Inclusion Program of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). It aims to equip the Filipino youth with basic knowledge on savings and the motivation to prepare for their future. It also encourages parents and relatives who are overseas, to participate in this "educational and value formative" initiative by matching the amounts saved by the kids.
The program targets the children or dependents of Overseas Filipinos (OF), who are 7 years old and above. LANDBANK as the lead implementor of the program will provide these children and their parents or relatives with the savings facility (OF ATM Account).
After the presentation, an initial number of 120 students, parents, teachers and school staff submitted documents for the opening of free KKISs Accounts in the Philippines. LANDBANK expects more participants to the program as it reaches out to the other Filipino schools in the United Arab Emirates.
