HISTORY

It was in 1998, when four Filipino nationalities namely Mrs. Felipa R. Regalado, Dra. Noemi R. Sicat, Mrs. Paula Uy Barcelona and Mrs. Vivian B. Florido focused their minds in putting up a school for the growing children in Benghazi, Libya. They were glad at the idea though it seems impossible to be materialized in those days especially in a foreign land like Libya. Their noble purpose was to provide formal education to the Filipino children reflecting the educational principles. The Board of Management led by Arch. Arnel Alcanices, the 1st Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), the Incorporators Engr. Rocky Barientos, Mrs. Aisha Paquil, Engr. Henry Turalde, Mr. Edgar Sicat, Mr. Carlos Yulde, Mr. Alberto Maceda, Jr., Mr. Al Borja, and Mr. Monjardin conformed to the idea that in any place like Libya, the children’s educational progress is always possible and the key to it is the establishment of a school which is a mark of a solid unified citizenry. Coupled with determination, willingness and Godly character that served as impetus for the achievement of its goal towards quality education, hence, a Philippine school emerged. With the joined efforts of the indefatigable Incorporators, Board of Management, volunteer teachers, Filipino parents, friends and benefactors unselfishly showed their collaborative support for the success of the school until in 2005 Mrs. Doris Mae Ladera-Battad, 2nd Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (BOT) did her best and extra effort in hiring professional and licensed teachers from the Philippines in order to continue the attainment of a quality education for the benefit of the Filipino school children in Benghazi. With deep faith in the Almighty, a dream for a new school came true bearing the name Philippine Centennial Academy International (PCAI). An institution which mirrors the heroic symbol of hopes and aspirations of the parents towards the intellectual satisfaction of their children. An international school where prosperity, freedom, and happiness of both parents and students lie.
