Background:

The Int’l. Philippine School in Italy (IPSI) was founded through the initiative of Mrs. Gracia Celia G. Nickel. Before she applied for the permit to operate in the Philippines, the Department of Education advised her to name the school, Int’l Philippine School in Italy. An application for Provisional Permit to operate a school for K to 12 Curriculum was filed officially on May 28, 2020 under the management and leadership of Mr. Manfred Nickel and Mrs. Gracia Celia Nickel.

The registration to the Chamber of Commerce in Rome was done on April 20, 2021.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, an online inspection was done by the officials of Department of Education and Commission on Filipino Overseas together with a representative from the Philippine Embassy in Italy on July 2021.

The school year 2020-2021 started on September 15, 2021. With the leadership of Mrs. Gracia Celia G. Nickel, the principal and directress of IPSI together with the pioneer teachers, Sr. Carmelita V. Meman,FMA, Fr. Gregory Adolfo, Mrs. Ma. Chona E. Arguelles. Mrs. Criselda Joy Guzman, Ms. Gloria M. Elarmo, Mrs. Gainylaine Manalo, Mrs. Raquel G.Lizardo, Mrs. Eliza Pilac and staff Mr. Robert De Guzman and Mr. Cefriano Pilac were on board during the first year of operation. Within this time, the first batch of classes was held at Basilica of Saint Prudenziana located in Via Cesare Balbo 25D which was comprised of 74 students in the Elementary and High School.

From SY2020 up to present, the Int’l. Philippine School in Italy operates as a Non- Stock and Non- profit company. IPSI offers the Philippine Basic K to 12 Curriculum and caters the OFW children and is also open for Non-Filipino learners. IPSI is now located at Via Onofrio Panvinio, 11, 00162 Roma RM, Italy

Last June 13, 2023, the Ocular Inspection of the IPSI by the Department of Education, Commission on Filipino Overseas, and Philippine Embassy in Italy was done successfully.
