Background

The first decade of the new millennium saw the establishment of more Philippine schools in the Middle East, particularly in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and brought about tremendous changes and challenges in the academic set-up. Armed with strength, unity, and determination, Filipino educators and community leaders thought of putting up a Philippine School that would solve the problem faced by many OFW parents, like quality education for their children at an affordable cost. With this on mind, the Pearl of the Orient International School (POIS) in Jeddah was established under the supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Education, with License No. S/218.

The school offers a Philippine-based curriculum with english as medium of instruction. Arabic and Islam subjects are also offered in all levels. Full facilities are provided for all grade levels from pre-school through secondary. The POIS, aims to meet a child’s specific needs and learning capabilities incorporating principles of wisdom and character-building.

Mission

The POIS is committed to provide an education that will lead each student to experience his/her dignity as a human being and become a world-class professional. The latter is capable of meeting the challenges of the new millennium, with strength of character, foresight, and a new working knowledge of world events and current international issues. Further, as a Filipino international school, the POIS provide knowledge to students so that they may apply this to Philippine realities and get involved in the discussion of key national issues. As an academic institution, the POIS is committed to the development of the Filipino student towards acquiring the skills necessary to examine national goals, to explore viable alternatives for the well-being of the Filipino society, and to be involved with the deep love for country and its language and culture. The POIS undertakes the task of forming Filipino citizens ready to share themselves, their capabilities, their education and their training for national development.
