IPSA reaps feat in the CFO’s Philippine History and Culture Online Quiz Bee for Philippine Schools Overseas (High School Category)

Philippine history and culture enthusiasts Gabriel L. Del Mundo and Mikael Jon Ivanovich B. Balag, Grade 9 and Grade 10 students, respectively, of the International Philippine School in Al-Khobar (IPSA) in Al-Khobar, KSA bested other high school students of Philippine Schools Overseas during the recently concluded Philippine History and Culture Online Quiz Bee sponsored by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas on February 20, 2024. The IPSA students will receive a cash prize of Php15,000 and certificates of recognition.

Coming in 2nd Place is the Philippine School Bahrain (PSB) represented by Maria Aliyah E. Ante and Reign Yra M. Fernandez, Grade 9 and Grade 10 students, respectively of PSB. The pair will receive a cash prize of Php 12,000.00 and certificates of recognition.

Rounding off the top 3 is the International Philippine School in Riyadh (IPSR) represented by Rania A. Somandar and Yasmine Emerald R. Avila, also Grade 9 and Grade 10 students, respectively, of IPSR. The pair will receive a cash prize of Php 10,000.00 and certificates of recognition.

The online quiz bee was participated by fifteen (15) Philippine schools in Bahrain, Greece, Italy, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Libya, Qatar, Oman and United Arab Emirates,

Secretary Leo V. Arugay in his welcome message, underscored that without knowledge about the history of one’s country, we won’t be able to grasp the importance of patriotism or love for the country. Sec. Arugay conveyed his advance congratulations to all the participants for taking up the challenge in joining the first-ever Philippine History and Culture online quiz bee.

 

Director Marie D. Apattad of the CFO’s Project Management Division delivered the closing message. She lauded the parents, teachers and other mentors who have continuously molded our young Filipinos overseas to the best person they can be. She also thanked everyone for their never-ending support to the CFO activities organized for students of PSOs.

The inter-school contest is an important activity, particularly as Philippine schools overseas also serve as sites of Filipino cultural and educational activities in the countries where they are established.
