The Philippine School – Abu Dhabi

HISTORY

The Philippine School (TPS) – Abu Dhabi was established on July 21, 2014 under the arrangement with the then Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC). The Council opened up bidding of investors to take over the responsibility of continuing with the school operation of the villa school (Philippine National School) which was ordered to close by the ADEC. The responsibility was offered to the management of The Philippine School – Dubai.

A probationary permit was issued by the Council to allow operation of the institution. Towards the end of academic year 2014-2015, the school applied for a permit to operate the institution from the Department of Education–Philippines. After compliance with all the pertinent requirements, DepEd issued the permit dated March 7, 2016. Since then, the school has been operating per DepEd license and is awaiting ocular inspection.

TPS–Abu Dhabi officially opened in September 2014 as a new school for Kindergarten (KG) to Grade 10 in an ex-government school building. It accommodates the majority of the students from the closed villa school. The school is anchored on its mission in providing affordable but quality education – where students are able to acquire the needed competencies prescribed by the Philippine Department of Education, under the K-12 Curriculum, and ensure that they are at par with the international benchmark, and consistent with the mission and vision of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).

In reference to the host government licensing compliance, the institution was issued initially by ADEC a probationary license in August 2014 followed by a temporary license issued September 1, 2016 and a present General License (under processing arrangement). Furthermore, the institution is issued its Commercial License under the Department of Economic Development (DED) from the time of establishment. The present DED license was issued on March 26, 2017.

On March 7, 2016, the school had been officially acknowledged and given Government Permit No. 01, s. 2016, Provisional Government Permit No.02, s. 2017 on November 29, 2017 by the Department of Education Manila, Philippines. On 26 February a new DepEd Government Permit No. 01, s. 2020 was issued to TPS- Abu Dhabi.

TPS – Abu Dhabi continues to soar and deliver quality and affordable education to the community after being certified with commendable school performance ratings given by the Irtiqaa Inspection Commission by the ADEK (Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge).

To date, The Philippine School has produced graduates of the K-12 Enhanced Basic Education. The school has been given various commendations with its strong advocacy of quality education and holistic learning environment. Now that we are experiencing the New Normal mode of learning, TPS remains resilient and compliant with DepEd and ADEK’s standards and remains commited to providing quality education for all.
