UIPS – Dubai: Champion of CFO’s Philippine History and Culture Online Quiz Bee for Philippine Schools Overseas (Elementary Category)
The United International Private School (UIPS) in Dubai, UAE emerged as Champion in the recently concluded Philippine History and Culture Online Quiz Bee for Philippine Schools Overseas (Elementary Category), organized by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas on 15 February 2024. The UIPS was represented by Edward Ezekiel D. Rivera and Yohance P. Agbulos, Grade 5 and Grade 6 pupils, respectively.
The Philippine School Bahrain in Manama, Bahrain represented by Amir Luigi B. Basarte and Elisha Q. Galvez, Grade 5 and Grade 6 pupils, respectively, secured the 2nd Place in the competition.
While, Lauvyne Shaye J. Tan and Nathan Edric R. Palete, both Grade 6 pupils of Philippine Schools Doha in Doha, Qatar, finished as 3rd Place in the contest.
The online quiz bee aims to help PSO students to deeply appreciate Philippine history and culture and develop a deeper sense of nationalism through mastery of significant events in Philippine history and the promotion of Filipino culture and educational values abroad. This activity also aims to demonstrate the value of honesty, obedience, unity, and sportsmanship among the participants.
A total of eleven (11) schools from Bahrain, Greece, Kingdom of Saudi, Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates participated in the said quiz bee.
The panel of judges for the competition were all from the academe who are currently teaching history, humanities and music.
The activity was the first-ever competition for PSOs conducted in a synchronous online quiz format using the video-conferencing app, Zoom and the game-based learning platform, Kahoot!
